  2.   Further Installation notes

  4.   Unfortunatly, the Installer-script is not able to the steps which are
  5.   necessary to integrate the magPLIP device in the AmiTCP/IP environment.

  7.   If install magPLIP for the first time, the following installation steps
  8.   are left to be done by you:
  9.  
  10.   On both systems you want to connect, load the file AMITCP:db/interfaces
  11.   into you favorite text editor. Add the following lines:
  12.   
  13.       magplip0 DEV=AMITCP:DEVS/Networks/magplip.device UNIT=0 P2P NOARP ...
  14.                                                        WRITEREQ=32 IPREQ=32
  15.       magplip1 DEV=AMITCP:DEVS/Networks/magplip.device UNIT=1 P2P NOARP ...
  16.                                                        WRITEREQ=32 IPREQ=32

  18.   Don't type in the ellipsis, instead concatenate the lines to one.

  20.   This tells AmiTCP/IP that there are two magPLIP devices, only one of
  21.   which you will actually use, however.
  22.  
  23.   To tell AmiTCP/IP which interface you want to use, load the file
  24.   AMITCP:bin/startnet into you favorite text editor. Search the line
  25.   where the default value for the parameter "IFACE" is set. It should look
  26.   like this:

  28.       .def IFACE slip0
  29.  
  30.   On one of your systems, change this line into
  31.  
  32.       .def IFACE magplip0
  33.  
  34.   On the other system, change this line into
  35.  
  36.       .def IFACE magplip1
  37.  
  38.   It is of absolutely no matter which one you assign which magplip unit.
  39.   The only really important thing is that you must use both units, if you
  40.   use the standard PLIP wiring as introduced by the orignal authors, and
  41.   which I recommend for compatibility reasons and safety.

  45.   installation.
